Blame The Rain

how easily the mind is swayed,
ripped away from thought…

just a little noise does it

like a drop of lime juice
falling into a bowl of soup,

like daylight,
peeling our eyelids apart
dissolving our dreams into routine…

into a have-to before it’s gone,
a could-have,
a won’t-be-forgotten-next-time,
a new memory to haunt our peace

but where it lingers
where it lingers..
tonight ’tis her voice
raining down lightning
entering my veins,
numbing my fingers

crippling my arms and every sinew
that held once lightness

hardening everything in its path
capturing moments along the way
before they’re gone again
